Suitable for measuring both static and kinetic coefficients of friction (COF) of plastic films and sheets, rubber, paper, paperboard, woven bags, fabric styles, metal-material composite tapes for communication cables, conveyor belts, wood, coatings, brake pads, windshield wipers, footwear materials, and tires. By evaluating the slip properties (smoothness) of materials, manufacturers can refine production quality metrics to meet specific application requirements.
The specimen is cut into two pieces: one is secured to the horizontal test plane with a clamp, and the other is wrapped around the sled. The sled is then attached to the load cell's hook. During the test, the two surfaces move relative to each other. The force signals detected by the sensor are amplified and processed to simultaneously calculate and record both the Static Coefficient of Friction and the Kinetic Coefficient of Friction.
