The Melt Flow Indexer is designed to determine the Melt Mass-Flow Rate (MFR) (Unit: g/10min) of thermoplastics. It is suitable for measuring the melt index of high-polymer raw materials at high temperatures, including PE, PS, PP, ABS, POM, PC, Nylon, and Fluoroplastics. It is extensively utilized in plastic raw material production, plastic products manufacturing, the petrochemical industry, universities, research institutions, and commodity inspection departments.
Under specified temperature conditions, a high-temperature furnace melts the specimen. The molten material is then extruded through a calibrated die (orifice) under the gravitational load of a standardized weight. In industrial production and scientific research, the Melt (Mass) Flow Rate is commonly used to characterize physical properties such as fluidity and viscosity of polymers in a molten state. The Melt Flow Index represents the average weight of the extrudate segments converted to a 10-minute discharge volume.
Determined via Gravimetric Method (MFR) and Volumetric Method (MVR).
